Nintendo Announces the Super Nintendo Classic

Nintendo Announces the Super Nintendo Classic

Today Nintendo announced their next classic console: The Super Nintendo Classic. Much like the Nintendo Classic, it will not be able to play the games themselves. Instead, it will have 21 games installed on it, to begin with. Many of these games are still very well regarded and are very enjoyable. Still, it does include Earthbound. While this game is a cult classic, without a guide, this game can be very difficult to complete. Almost every title, especially the (J)RPGS, are renown classics with hundreds of hours of play in them. The other games offer both silly fun and a good challenge. Some even present a very high challenge.

In those 19 games, there is one that needs to be unlocked, Star Fox 2. Most know that Star Fox 2 never received a full release. There have been a number of ROMs from the Beta builds that have been circulating around the internet and on ROM sites. Many of these ideas we did not see until the release of Star Fox Zero on the Wii U. Star Fox 2 presents a game that is very different from the original game. It is more blockade defense game with Team Star Fox needing to defense the Corneria system from the invading forces of Andross. To unlock this game you will need clear Level 1 of Star Fox. They apparently wanted to make it something of a challenge to unlock this game. Nothing too challenging. Most will be able to clear the level within 15 minutes, even starting from no knowledge of the game. Experience Star Fox players will be able to clear it very quickly. This is a little baffling because it is the first game to be unlockable on this style of console.

Final Fantasy 3, better known as Final Fantasy 6 outside the US, makes it return under its original US moniker. This was the title it was originally sold under. It makes little sense given FF6 has been released under its original numbering for the Gameboy Advance. Why they are returning to the original numbering for its SNES release seems a little baffling.

In the package, the Classic Console will come with 2 controllers with 5 ft (1.524 meters), an HMDI cable, power source and lots of nostalgia. It looks to retail for $79.99 (US). Nintendo has also assured some they will try to avoid a full repeat of the sell-out of the Nintendo Classic. Many will just have to wait and see.
