Duels become easier to win once your sims get higher levels or you find the right technique. My technique that works for me requires a Blacksmith, a Wizard/Sourceress and a Knight/Monarch/Spy.

First of all, get your Blacksmith to create a Precise Scimitar (can be unlocked after gaining higher Blacksmith levels). To make the sword, you need 4 pieces of Ferrous, 2 pieces of Mitheral and 2 pieces of Phosphorus. Mitheral can be found near the Kingball courts and the Jacobian Cathedral. The others you can buy from the Village Shoppe.

After gaining those items, make the sword. I made the sword at Legendary Quality, although I don't think it will effect the attack strength of the sword. To keep it in the red area at the top of the Quality Bar, try to avoid letting the metal cool down or heat up too much. If done right, you should finnish with a Legendary Quality Precise Scimitar Sword.

Next thing to do is to create a Flame Sword Enchantment with your Wizard/Sourceress. To do that you need 2 Adamantle, 2 Azurite, 2 Mana Stone and 2 Phosphorus. You can buy all of those except the Mana Stones, which can be located near the Wizard's tower and the Watcher Pavilion. After collecting those items, make the potion on your Crafting Cranny. When it's done, find your Blacksmith and drag the potion from your inventory to the Blacksmith and it should appear in his.

Now you have the two essential items to create my recomended sword. Again, you don't have to make it at a Legendary Quality. After creating the sword, find you Knight/Monarch/Spy and then drag the new sword from your inventory to the new owner of the sword. Then you can switch to your sim to the new one and then Sharpen the sword. After sharpening it, you'll probably find that its attack strength is about 6 and its weight is about 0 (yes thats right, 0. Awesome, huh?).

So now your sim has my recomended sword. For even more luck, you can get your Spy to create a Potion of Preparation. To do that you need 1 Belladonna, 2 Eaglewoods and 2 Wildflowers, all of wich can be found around the kingdom or in the Village Shoppe. Create that potion, give it to your sim, drink, fight, and win :D

Hope this helps :D
