4-1-1-2-2:
Storari
Motta Chiellini Bonucci Grosso
Sissokho
Aquilani
Krasic Del Piero
Iaquinta Qualiarella
Notes:
Storari in goal until Buffon is back
Motta & Grosso supporting full backs
Bonucci and Chiellini as normal center backs
Sissokho defensive meidfilder (Anchor Man)
Aquilani (Advanced Playmaker - attack)
Krasic (Winger - attack)
Del Piero (Advanced Playmaker - attack)
Iaquinta (Target Man - attack)
Quagliarella (Trequartista)
Squad Weaknesses:
This tactic leaves two men in the center of the field, so you might get outplayed if another team fields a 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation with three men in the central midfield. To counter this, instruct your team when in a match to get the ball out to the flanks, where Krasic and Del Piero can create some goals. On the bench, Marchisio is sub for both Sissokho and Aquilani so you want to strengthen the squad and get another midfielder or two. You may also want to buy a striker (trequartista or poacher) for extra back up if Quagliarella is tired/injured, as Matri just doesn't cut it for me and is also a loanee (so you lose him after the first season).
Style of play: Balanced
Krasic and Del Piero are good at crossing and Iaquinta can score readily with his head. Iaquinta will probably get injured but Luca Toni is a good replacement in such an event.
Aquilani, Del Piero and Quagliarella are all good at passing a la 'tici taca / barca-style', and also can score from distance. These three will create your classier goals, and Krasic will also score a wonder goal every now and then.
The team can score from headers, long-shots and one-on-ones, hence the balanced team philosophy.
