Uh... what? You're talking about the final version. Which isn't even coming out in 2012, it's coming out around the week of 11/11/11, maybe the 16th or 18th or something. Not 2012. Anyway, like the second guy said ^^^ it's after PAX with is dated for the 26th to 28th of August. So expect 1.8 to be out early/mid September. Perhaps late august If everything at PAX goes well.
yea that's what it says, seems weird though doesn't it? Why release version 1.8 then release the final version so soon after? Might as well not release 1.8 to save time so they can do full release faster no?
They want all of the new content out so they can strain any bugs/glitches out of the game, so when full release rolls around most of the bugs will be fixed.
Yea I get that, and that's why you need a beta to begin with. But introducing a large number of new features and then only having a month or less to get feedback and actually start fixing bugs before final release doesn't seem like enough time.
Maybe 1.8 is the final release. 0_o
good point actually, suppose that would make sense
1.8 basically is the "final" update, or at least the last big update, as said by Notch, but the rest of the updates he'll have is, more or less, bug fixes, though he also said that 1.8 is not the last item update and will continue to update after release.
nooooooooooooooooooo i don't wanna
no the official minecraft is comin out before that
1.8 is not the final update its the final update before the release of the complete game
hello guys, uhm the 1.9 update is coming out a little after 1.8, which will include npc's to go in the villages, and a HUGE nether update.
no thats when mc should be finished
No npc villages are coming out in1.8
that is so they can see what some people think about it in full version may not even be somethings from 1.5 simply because 50% of testers don't like that thing
if you think about it,3rd anonymous above me, the full realease minecraft would be 2.0 not 1.9,thats how it works, right?
or there just gonna make it minecraft 1.0
yea the villages, not the npc's themselves...

it is going to be released 11-18-11 at minecon where notch will press the update button in a big show
answered 12 years ago by ni23237 Rookie (209 points)   1
NO!!!! That is the final update, 2.0.
u n00b, if it was 2.0 then it would be called Minecraft 2, that won't be, but when there will be a update after 1.9 it would be called 1.10 then 1.11 etc. ,notice theses are BETA 1.X Minecraft full will just be 'Minecraft' no more numbers attacthed  to it, i know bad english
lol i sure hope you are trolling retard
It won't be 1.10 because thats just the same as 1.1 if notch really wants to stretch it out he might make it 1.81 or 1.91 but that would be beta so when the full game is released he may just reset it and call them updates like update 0.1, update 0.5, update 0.45
and 2.0 doesn't mean minecraft 2 in alpha 0.7 didnt mean it wasnt the first minecraft it just means it will have gone into a later phase maybe like delta
You clearly have no brain, 1.10 is 1.1 in math and science class, but when talking about video game releases, 1.1 means 1-1, first Main Version 1 Sub Version 1. and 1.10 is 1-10, Main Version 1 Sub Version 10.
1.10 is 1.10.. 1.1 is 1.1.. 1.1.2 is one and 1.10.2 is different idiot.. its 1.10.. 1.1 and 1.10 are different
ver 2.0 doesnt mean minecraft 2, go look at the ver for wow, goes up every expansion, its still world of warcraft, not world of warcraft 3

and comment above, what difference does it make how its done
Vanilla was 1.X
BC was 2.X
WotLK was 3.X
Cata is 4.X
so basicly, if you follow he's "logic" it would be "World of Warcraft 4" but since it is'nt. that only mean he's totaly wrong. and BTW to the guy that wrote the thing about "1.10 and 1.1", did you skip math when you went to school?
yes with maths 1.1 is the same as 1.1000000 since the zeros get ignored but as with programing 1.1 and 1.10 are different
we rarely see this happen because people like to avoid this confusion since most people would ignore the zero when its there for a reason
wouldn't 1.10 be 2.0??
well no usually a version goes from 1.x to 2.x with a major addition / overhaul of the software

the next version number really depends on whatever the dev team decide to make it

valid point....
*whores. And hi should be capitalized and have its own sentence.
One word can't be a sentence. "Hi" in that sentence should have a comma after it because it's an interjection. Furthermore, you should put the word "should" before have in YOUR sentence for proper parallel structure. Also, stop being a grammar Nazi; you're terrible at it.
When replying you can have one word sentances. "Yes." Is a sentance
Or it may be a "sentence."
hahahahahahahahahahah!
mate its ,"should," ... bloody american noobs at english...
^^^ Sorry, our english went out the window after we won our independance from the brits.........no biggie

It's not coming out until late august-mid september. on a side note, it probably won't be the last update, there is most likely going to be 1.9 to add a few tiny features, then the full release. sources: other forums, minecraft wiki, and notch's twitter.

Notch has said in his tweets that he will be uploading the 1.8 demo at PAX and after PAX he was going to release it, At PAX he had to fix a few things and tweak some things when he got back home, He got back home yesterday so expect 1.8 either tomoz or sometime this week =) oh and he has also said it will be split into two parts due to demand. So 1.8 will contain most things and then 1.9 will release more things and then after 1.9 the next update will be the official release on the 11/11/11 whitch will make minecraft a full game with future updates. The problem is they are releaseing the full game on the same day as Skyrim the elder scrolls, so they gonna have a major challenge on there hands. hope i helped =)
