LA Noire marriage made in heaven is what the coroner telling me the truth (SPOILERS)

The coroner tells me that Lester Pattison was not killed from a hit and run but that he was already dead when the car hit him and that he was stabbed? does that make sense? I though i saw the car hitting him at begining cutscene not that he was stabbed?

Yes but did you find the knife in the trash outside the bar you need that for the case.

The coroner always tells you the truth. After you complete the case, you will know that he was stabbed and then pushed in front of a car.
