the evidence all points at Hugo being the murderer, so it's PROBABLY him, there's not really a solid answer, but you get the 'good' ending for convicting Eli as he's also a pedophile, and therefore it's more popular with the general public

It was definitely Eli. I don't understand why people find that case so difficult. It even showed him committing the murder in the intro to the case.
