Pokemon Sword and Shield Unique Evolutions

Pokemon Sword and Shield Unique Evolutions

Pokemon as a series has long since been known for its unique methods of evolution for the Pokemon themselves. The thing is those were based on Friendship, Day/Night, Location, evolution items or held items. Pokemon Sword and Shield, the 8th generation, has decided to take this in a completely new direction! There are now evolutions based on meeting criteria within a battle, HP and location, and a wide variety of others.

Galarian Yamask into Runerigus

To evolve this Yamask you are going to want a Focus Sash and a Poke Doll, as well as a very powerful opponent in the Dusty Bowl Wild Area. Get into a battle and let Yamask take a hit of 49+ damage, and survive. Now, there is a toppled rock arch in the Dusty Bowl Wild Area. Leaving the Yamask at its present HP (and switching it out of first position just in case) go to the arch and walk underneath it. Simply passing through the archway will trigger the Evolution.

Galarian Farfetch'd into Sirfetch'd

This is a long anticipated evolution. For this evolution, Farfetch'd needs to get 3 critical hits in a single battle. It is very much recommended that Farfetch'd is holding its Stick/Leek because this gives a significant boost to its critical hit chance. These Farfetch'd have a 50% chance of having a Leek when caught. Using a not very effective move on a same level Pokemon is a great way to get a lot of hits in. With the Leek, it is very likely you can get this done in a single battle. It is far better to attempt this during a Trainer battle simply because there will be more Pokemon for you to fight throughout.

Snom into Frosmoth

The Snom has a Friendship/Night based evolution to it. The Snom needs to have at least 3 hearts when you are interact with it for it to be ready to evolve. After that, either wait for Nighttime in a Wild Area or change your Switch's clock temporarily. Than have it gain a level for it to evolve.

Applin into Appletun/Flapple

Applin has 2 evolutions, based on which version of the game via an in-game item and an NPC in Hammerlocke. Once in the town, head to the West from the Pokemon Center. Nearby the large stone archway you can find a young man. Approach and talk with him. He will mention something about a rumor. Say that you haven't heard it and he will explain that giving an Applin to someone you like will have the couple stay together. Give him your Applin. It will have a quick fade out and then he will return your Applin along with an item based on your game: Sweet Apple in Shield, Tart Apple in Sword. The apples can be found in the Wild Area, but they are a 1% appearance item.

Using a Tart Apple will allow the Applin to evolve into Flapple.

Using a Sweet Apple will allow Applin to evolve into Appletun.

Milcery into Alcremie

Milcery easily has the most forms of any varied evolved Pokemon in the series! There are 63 different forms of Alcremie. There are 4 factors for this evolve: Spin, Spin Time, Item, and Day or Night. To evolve Milcery, it needs to be holding a Sweet Item. After that, depending on the Item, you will need to get your character to spin by having them rapidly spin using the thumbstick. Once they start spinning, just let it run. At the completion of the spin, Milcery will evolve into an Alcremie based on the item, direction and duration of spin, and time of day.

Sweet Items: Strawberry Sweet, Berry Sweet, Love Sweet, Star Sweet, Clover Sweet, Flower Sweet, and Ribbon Sweet

Galarian Darumaka into Galarian Darmanitan

Darumaka from Galan evolve using the Ice Stone on it. Darumaka can only be found in Pokemon Sword. The item can be found rarly in the Wild Area nearby the Lake of Outrage. Look for the outward pointing standing stones and search around there. You can also spend watts with the Digging Duo found in Bridge Field. They have a chance to find one.

Galarian Linoone to Obstagoon

The Galarian Zigzagoon line has a night-time evolution condition tied in. First, the Linoone needs to be at least level 35. Second, it needs to level up at night-time. Once it levels up, this should trigger its evolution into Obstagoon.

Clobbopus into Grapploct

For Clobbopus to evolve into Grapploct it needs to know the move “Taunt.” Clobbopus learns “Taunt” at Level 35, but it can evolve sooner if you have TR 37. Unlike TM's, Technical Records are expended after being used. Once it knows the move, it just needs to level up, with the exception of learning Taunt at Level 35, where its evolution will simply be triggered.

Sinistea into Polteageist

Evolving a Sinistea involves getting a Chipped or Cracked pot from a vendor in Stow-on-Side. Both can be purchased from the Bargain Vendor. This vendor's inventory cycles daily, so it can take a few days to find the item you are looking for.

There are 2 versions of Sinistea: Phony and Antique. The difference is a small seal on the bottom of the cup the Pokemon resides in. This also affects which of the Pots will work on the Pokemon to evolve it. A Cracked Pot will only work on a Phony Sinistea. A Chipped Pot will only work on an Antique Sinistea.

Toxel into Toxicity (Amped and Low-Key)

Toxel will evolve into Toxicity at Level 30. The question here is which of its 2 forms you will get: Amped or Low-Key. It needs to have a particular innate nature for it to evolve into the respective forms.

Amped Natures: Adamant, Brave, Docile Hardy, Hasty, Impish, Jolly, Lax, Naive, Naughty, Quirky, Rash, Sassy

Low-Key: Bashful, Bold, Calm, Careful, Gentle, Lonely, Mild, Modest, Quiet, Relaxed, Serious, Timid.

Attempting to change the nature using the Mints will only change the stats effected by the nature. It will not effect which form the Toxel evolves into.
