Pokemon Go: Understanding Appraisal
Pokemon Go added in a few very helpful elements in the last update to Pokemon Go. One of them was a new addition on the Pokemon stat screen, appraisal. This gives more interaction with your Team Leader and tells you some very helpful information. There is still some decoding that needs to be done. While Veteran Pokemon players will have less trouble understanding how the information is presented, those new to the series will have a bit of trouble understanding the tiers that Team Leaders will use.
IV Totals and the Leader just said
Pokemon can have a total of 45 in their Individual Values (IV's) in the game. This is split between: Attack, Stamina and Defense. Each of the Team Leaders will have something to say based on the total that the Pokemon has. This will give you a better guideline to which Pokemon are worth keeping, evolving and powering up. Size is included because some effect on the overall HP and some other stats. When the Team leader addresses the individual stats, they will point out the strongest one and any that are tied with it.
Combine this information with the usage of an IV calculator and you will have a very good idea of what your Pokemon's stats are. Presently there is no way to know the values for certain (at the time of writing this article.
