just hold Forward on the controller 360 or PS3, and right as a hit is about to make contact with you, press the Block button. Requires some timing so practice if having difficulties. Also remember this causes 2 bars of your X-Ray bar.

Hold the direction towards your opponet down and hit the block button when they hit you.
