can I play mortal kombat 9 online on the PS3 with my friend who has it on the Xbox 360?

No, people who own it on the PS3 can only play with other people on the PS3, and people who own it on the 360 can only play with other people on the 360.

no, it isn't crossplatform.  Xbox360 players can only play with xbox360 players, ps3 players can only play with ps3 players

There hasn't been a cross platform game since the Shadowrun reboot, so no. The only other game currently aiming for cross platorm is Dust 514
