How do you combine items in Dead Rising 2?

You have to find a work bench and place both items on it one at a time (they have to be in your carried inventory)

To combine items you simply place the first item on the maintenance room bench, and then you attempt to place the second item. If they are compatable then a "Combine" message will appear. Have fun combo-killing those zombies!

You need a work bench. If you get to one (there's one in your warehouse) and put down one item, when you select the second item and put it on there it will have the option to combine.

You have to put the item on the bench in the maintenance room, then you try to put the second thing. If they can combine then they will.
