In League of Legends, you can buy champions in the store for either IP or RP. IP is earned by playing games, and RP you can buy with real money. When you buy a champion, you keep them forever.

You have to either buy Riot Points (RP) from the store using real money, or earn Influence Points (IP) from playing games. After you get a certain amount of points (depends on the champion you want to buy) you go to the shop icon in the game launcher. It is the golden - orange colored button, under your name and to the right of the PLAY button. Go there, and you can see how many points you need to buy each hero.

The easiest way would be to use real money and buy RP from the store, you can get roughly 1380 RP points for ~10$ which will allow you to buy 1-2 champions depending on their price (some are as low as 250 while others and most of them are around 950).

The other option, since it is a free to play game is to spend IP on them which you earn through playing actual games. The IP prices range from 450 - 6300 points and you get on average ~100 points a win and ~75 points a loss. This is also affected on how long the games actually are.

You can look at a pretty hefty grind to get all the champions, so my suggestion is to get ones you're interested in. There are also 10 free champiosn every week which are usually updated on monday. So try not to buy a champion on Sunday night just incase it goes free the next day.

Every week, League of Legends allows all players to use 10 unique champions. These champions can be played by anyone during this week. However, the champions that are "free" are constantly changing.

To buy your own champions (ones that you will be able to play with forever), you hace to click on the store button, then go to champions. But, like everything, you need money to make a purchase.

League of Legends has two different types of currency: Riot points (RP) and Influence points (IP). RP can only be earned by spending real money. IP, however, is earned whenever you play a game. The more games you play, the more IP you can earn: there is no limit.

Each champion has a different cost. So when you finally save up enough IP (or just buy some RP), you can click on the small icons under their pictures in the store and select which method you want to use to pay. Once purchased, the champion will be forever available to play with on your account.

New Champions can be bought either by using riot points (rp) or influence points (ip)

RP is cash points obtained by spending real money on the in game store and is usable for buying anything in the store except for runes.

IP is ingame cash earned by playing the game and is usable for buying champions and runes.
