To use a PS3 controller u need the correct drives and a bluetooth device to interact with any wireless controller.

The best way to configure the PS3 controller is to use and download JoyToKey.

I'm not use that you can use PS3 constrollers very easily on a PC. I'ts problably possible though. If you just want a game controller to play with, Xbox360 controllers can plug into a usb port and are natively supported in Portal 2 on the PC.
