I played and thoroughly enjoyed Rogue, but there are plenty of them available in the game. Once your party is fully built, you'll have three mages and two warriors. Warrior is a straighforward, easier to play class, but mage might feel a bit more rewarding.

Warriors are so overpowered.  You can properly spec a 2H Warrior to deal insane amounts of damage while taking very little removing the need for a tank.  Rogue DPS is strong but the majority of a 2H Warrior's DPS is also AoE (area of effect) so their output is much higher with better survivability.

Mages aren't as strong as they were in Origins.  They still do decent DPS but nothing close to what a 2H Warrior can do.

A great thread to an awesome Warrior build:

Warriors are fun, it's what I enjoy playing the most, so my opinion might be biased - but, I personally think playing as a mage and going healer is a good choice, this allows you to have a more 'involved' feeling with the story and frees up the spot most people would take anders (the healer) for someone else
