how do you use the portal gun in portal 2?

Just click on the mouse button to shoot holes in the walls to pass through. It's that simple.

If you mean how to use portals, it's quite easy. You shoot a blue portal somewhere with one of the mouse buttons, then shoot an orange one somewhere else with the other mouse button.

When both portals are set, just walk into one of them, and you'll walk out of the other one.

On PC, the left click shoots a blue portal, and the right click shoots an orange portal.

On Console, right trigger / R2 shoots a blue portal, and left trigger / L2 shoots an orange portal.

These two portals represent an enterence and an exit, although none of them are exclusively one or the other.

This means that once you open a blue portal and an orange portal, you are able to pass through them both ways, either entering the orange or entering the blue. This will cause you to exit the other colored portal!

Left click and Right click place the Blue and Orange portals (might be the other way around) If you can't place the portal, you may have reconfigured your controls, check the options to see if you did :) After you placed your portals - you can walk through them - they simply connect two points of the environment.

Left click for the first portal, right click for the second one. If you aren't creating a portal, try using the portal gun on a different texture of the environment as portals sometimes do not go on some walls/floors.

Check the controls based on your system and set up, but set the blue portal on a surface that will accept it (moving surfaces, and certain surfaces wont accept it) and then shoot the orange one to another location, and voila! insta portal success.

Point somewhere the mouse, and click with left mouse, then point an other way the mouse, and click with right mouse. And then moving in one of the portal :D
