how to open the trunk in LA NOIRE:?!?!?!

During a gunfight in L.A. Noire (AKA the greatest game ever made,) you go to the back of any police vehicle and press A to open the trunk of the vehicle. In the back of every police vehicle there is a shotgun and i think a tomy gun. If you run out of ammo with either of them, you can always switch back to the .45. I'm sorry if i didn't fully answer your question due to the fact you play on the PC or playstation, but i play it on the PC with an Xbox controller
