I don't think a lot of people answering understand this guy's problem, but I do cause I'm having the same issue. I'm using a Logitech Duel Action controller. I don't want to use my mouse and keyboard. The Logitech lets you assign buttons to it, and everything else works fine. Even looking left and right is fine. But looking up and down do NOT work on the controller. For some reason the computer/game don't recognize those specific movements with the controller, even when you assign them as buttons on the options menu. So what we're asking is how do we get it to work on our controller, without having to use a mouse.

I'm using the Dual Action Game Pad, when you click on one of the sticks pick the bottom option and assign it to a mouse axis. Tested and worked fine.

On PC, the mouse represents your screen, essentially. So when you in order to look around the room, you must move your mouse in the direction you'd like the screen to go. This is also affected by your in game preferences, such as inversion and sensitivity. On console, the right Stick on either system represents which direction you look in the same way that the mouse does.

Make sure you don't have a controller plugged in when you start the game.

Use your input device that you normally use.

This could include:

A mouse

A trackpad

A joystick

A console controller

Touchscreen monitor

If you're playing on PC, simply move your mouse up and/or down. If you're playing on a console (PS3 or XBOX360) the right analog stick controls your aim. Move that stick to look up or down.

Well just take the mouse in your hand, and slide it forward to make your on screen character look up, slide it backward to make your character look down. If you're on a console, just push the right thumbstick forward to look up or backward to look down.

I'm using the Dual Action Pad. If you go into the profiler, select one of the stick axises and when the menu comes up choose the bottom option,"Axis Properties" then you can map the stick axis to a mouse axis and it works fine. (Turn down the sensitivity)
