Should I buy portal 2 or mortal kombat?

Don't let anyone tell you what to buy, if you like fighting games then get mortal combat. However if you're more into puzzle type games then portal 2 is a good buy. Both of the games are really good but it's all up to you to decide which one you'll have more fun with.

If you like puzzle games and / or FPS, and odd quirky humor, then Portal 2 is the way to go. It is going to have a lengthy story driven mode, as well as a nice coop multiplayer mode.

If you like 2D fighters and brutal graphic depictions of glorious violence, then Mortal Kombat. It is packed to the brim with features, including the most fleshed out story mode you'll find in any fighting game to date. It has a nice side single player mode called "Challenge Tower" that contains 300 challenges. And, it has plenty of multiplayer modes, including standard versus and tag team.

 

You really can't go wrong with either of them, but it's down to preference on what sort of game you want to play. Brutal violent fighter, or puzzle based quirky FPS

Merely based on what I have seen so far of the two, I think that Portal 2 is going to be a superior game. Mortal Kombat, as always, will be a sick game. Portal 2, however, is going to be a classic.

Both are great games. I'd buy both if i were you. Buying this on the PS3 is a major advantage as well. Portal 2 PS3 version has a steam code for PC along with it and Mortal Kombat has the BRUTAL Kratos character in MK.

If you're short of money and want to choose between these two, i'd go with Portal 2, 'cause of the story and the unique gameplay. Fighting games are fun, but, come on, it doesn't come close to puzzle solving, creative genre of games like Portal.

If you are tored between buying Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat because you like both genre, I would reccomend Portal 2. Portal 2 is easily one of the most sophisticated puzzle game ever created that will blow your mind away. Couple that with the fact that Portal 1 was had a pretty funny story will make Portal 2 worth every dollar. Plus, it's only 49.99$ (44.99$ pre-purchase it) compare to Mortal Kombat overpriced 59.99$

It's your choice. If I were you, I would choose Portal 2, but that's because I love Valve games and this one seems to be one of their masterpieces, and looks incredibly fun and it'll probably have an interesting stories. On the other hand, I never liked Mortal Kombat games, but it's just because I don't like fighting games. That's why it's all up to you, it depends on what type of game you like the most. If you really can't decide, buy them both :P

I would highly recommend Portal 2 due to the amount of content you're getting over Mortal Kombat. Personally, I'm not a fan of fighting games and I've heard tha Mortal Kombat is really just a remake of the previous MK's. Portal 2 has a lot more gameplay and is cheaper if you get the PC version.

It depends, if you like to think and you like puzzle games, portal 2. If you just like killing things and boobs, mortal kombat. Portal 2 has gotten some very good reviews and people I talked to said it is very good.

If I were you, I would have a hard time deciding it. Luckily I'm not you. Both are great games, MK is a very awesome reboot of franchise, so if you played mk 1-2, it will be so nice to get that one too. And Portal doesn't need any words, it's Valve.

id say its up to you if you have the money or not to get both but for me id get portal 2 then have to wait cause id haveto get up about 400 dollars cause id haveto buy a ps3 cause i like the controller better then the 360 and it has mk2 also. and buy the game which is 60. but i do wish they would have made it for the pc as well

If you like games in the fighting genre, then get Mortal Kombat. If you want to try a bit of a whole new genre that I would call "puzzle-adventure" then get Portal 2. Personally I would buy Portal 2 just because I played the original, and it was amazing!

Ironically, I was in the same situation as you are/were and I went with Mortal Kombat. Having been a Steam member for such a long time, I realize that in a few weeks to a month there we will no doubt be a sale that may or may not include Portal 2. I rarely buy games on Steam new simply because they tend to, more often than not, offer them cheaper relatively soon.

However, if money isn't really an issue, I'd say go with whatever you enjoy more. Mortal Kombat is a really fun casual (and yet to be figured out competitively) fighting game that offers a ton of content. The story mode is actually really well done and not like any I've played before.

It has much depth, and while its yet to be tested against the likes of Street Fighter, I'm going to be right along side of it, learning as it goes.

Mortal Kombat and Portal are two different genres, so they are difficult to compare.

Fighting games in general are usually difficult for casual gamers, so unless you know you enjoy them, or you have someone to play with often, then mortal kombat is a good investment it is fun, challenging, and very graphic.

Portal is, of course, a puzzle game. Not an ordinary puzzle game however. It has an amazing gameplay mechanic combined with great humor. Portal 2 is expected to (and so i've heard) actually be better than the original Portal.

Ultimately the choice is up to you, of course But. if I could only have one, I would go with portal 2.

If you're a die-hard fan of Portal, then Portal 2 will not disappoint. However, if you've never played the first Portal or have just a small interest in puzzle games, then Portal 2 might not be worth the $45 price tag. It's amazingly short for its price (about 5-6 hours), and has almost zero replay value.

If you're a fan of Mortal Kombat or fighting games, then by all means get that game.
