how do i kill the soldiers on the ship on assassin's creed iii?

All the ships are different. But basically you are gonna want to swim out and climb up cautiously behind the one patroller you always puts his back to the water, or the once who eventually walks up to look out to the water. Then ledge assassinate him when clear and this is your entry point. Then you are gonna want to watch and time your later assassinations on when guards are isolated, or when you can climb the mast unnoticed, or get a corner assassination from a wooden crate, etc. There is one time i just ran on the ship, placed the bomb, and dove into the water letting the bomb kill them all so i could go back and houst my flag after.
