Playing better will level you up faster, but I know that's not what you wanna hear, so....

Check the daily challenges.

I can generally get most of the challenges done in an hour. Sometimes one game of firefight can get you 2 or 3 done. These can net thousands of credits at a time.

Take a look at your commendations.

Know which ones are about to be filled so you can focus your gameplay on getting those. Don't put yourself in bad situations though, just to get commendations, especially in team games.

Change search preference to SKILL.

A lot of people don't think of this, but if you're asking this you're probably new, so leveling the playing field will mean you get more kills. More kills means more cR. However, you'll only get better by playing better people. So keep that in mind and try to find some good players willing work with you in some custom games.

Finish games!

You net huge jackpots in the slots, and quitters are weak anyways.

And I don't suggest it if you're not at least a captain, but if you have no shame you can look up the ONI Sword Base trick on YouTube. Reason is because at lower levels you will boost up quickly, but at higher levels the leveling takes longer, so it's nice to save that boost when you might go a week or so between ranks.
