Can I confert a V1.0.2 Terraria world to V1.0.3 and for then futher updated if i download the updates?

I got a illegal downloaded version of terraria, and for now there is on the main menu of terraria no update button as like Minecraft, so i was thinking: i want V1.0.3 but i have a V1.0.2 manual  made world, so i was thinking if i confert it to a downloaded V1.0.3 file will it crash or not? thank you for the answers!

The worlds will get some but not all of the new content. I've seen people get it to work but it won't have all the biomes etc. Check my guide at http://nerd-age.com/?p=755 for the new stuff.
