in the lower leagues you really just need to focus on your macro. ie keeping you money low, not getting supply blocked, constantly be building workers. use hotkeys and learn your keyboard shortcuts. solid mechanics and macro will get you out of bronze league.

watch day9 - http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/3732340/   http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/4712303/

It's all about macro. Macro macro macro. If you're playing protoss, probes and pylons. if you're playing terran, constant SCVs without getting supply blocked.

If you're playing zerg, it's a bit more tricky - because you make all of your units from the same building, the Hatchery. This is why there is a trade off between getting army units (zerglings, roaches) and getting economy (drones). Zerg macro is a bit more difficult because of this and you'll have a much better chance of learning by watching day9 (he did a daily on zerg macro I believe - check the links by jaykay) or PsyStarcraft (really good zerg player/commentator)

If you can macro well you will be able to get out of bronze, silver, and even gold, so keep at it! Scouting for cheese (and scouting in general) will be another skill that you should learn to obtain.

If you really do want to get better, go back to your replays after each game, and analyze it from your point of view, and go through all the mistakes you made and try to answer your own questions.  If you lost a game, why did you lose. What did the opponent do wrong. After finding out what to improve on, focus on improving that one aspect of your gameplay at a time and before you know it, you'll be in diamond/masters!

Best of luck!

Use control groups, macro, build plenty of drones/probes/scvs, expand early and often and constantly build units.

Also, vary up your units. Unlike in SC1 when you could just mass units you have to vary it up some in SC2.

Practice and more practice. Watch Day9 videos and it will give you tips and hints on how to improve. I went from Bronze to Diamond from watching his videos.
