Dragon Age 2 how do I make it night time?

I need to go to lowtown at night in dragon age 2 but night time never seems to come?

if you exit a zone  you will see a map and you will have the option of going to the city in daytime, the city in nighttime, or outside the city (look for icons on the bottom right corner of the map)

A simple click of a button on the "world map" does the trick.
