Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale developer SuperBot held a panel at the San Diego Comic Con this morning, and they took the opportunity to reveal scads of new content to attendees. First and foremost, of course, are the two new characters that got the crowd on their feet.
Cole McGrath will join the All-Stars roster, and he will bring with him a suite of electricity-based attacks. He will use his amp from Infamous 2 as his primary melee weapon, while bolts of electricity will allow him to hit targets from a medium distance. He will also have an electricity shield and an electric tether to grapple to far-away enemies. As fans of the series know, Cole's attacks aren't just limited to electricity anymore, and Cole will make great use of this when he activates a Super. Two Supers were shown off; in the first, Cole unleashed a wave of ice spikes, and in the second he took off to a position above the battlefield and guided an ionic vortex into enemies from a distance.
The second new character revealed was actually two characters; much to the delight of the audience, Jak and Daxter will be joining the fray. This deadly combo will demand a mostly ranged fighting style, although Jak can sling around his Ottsel buddy for melee attacks in a pinch. Jak's arsenal includes an electricity gun, a ricocheting rifle, and a more powerful cannon-styled gun. He will tap into the power of Eco for his Super moves, utilizing both Dark and Light forms to take enemies down. The Dark form seemed to be more melee-based, while the Light form slung powerful bursts of energy at enemies from across the battlefield.
A series of new outfits was revealed as well. These inctuxedos doll version of Big Daddy from the first Bioshock 2 teaser, a winter coat for Drake from Uncharted 2's Tibet level, a pirate costume for Fat Princess, a purple "pin" jacket (as the team fondly referred to it) for Heiheichi, a Demos skin for Kratos, the astronaut suit from Um Jammer Lammy for Parappa, a Starhawk skin for Sweet Tooth, heavy armor for Radec, a Robin Hood-esque getup for Sly Cooper, and a tuxedo for Toro.
SuperBot calls Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale a game by fans for fans, and if the reaction to their panel is any indication, they're doing a great job of pleasing those fans. Stay tuned to GameShampoo, and be sure to check back in three weeks from now, when we'll be revealing even more new characters for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.
