Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 Open Beta Details Announced

The PS4 release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is fast approaching, and Square-Enix has announced a public beta for the MMO in order to prepare for launch. The Japanese developer revealed the following details this morning:

  • Phase 1 of the beta will last from February 22nd through March 3rd
  • Phase 2 will last from April 4th through April 7th
  • Those dates are based on Japanese Standard Time
  • The beta will be available to everyone with a PS4 and will be downloadable through the PS Store
  • A character wipe will occur after Phase 1, so don't get too attached
  • Players who create a character in Phase 2 will be able to import that character into the final game
  • Players will be able to transfer data from the PS3 and PC versions of the game to the PS4 in the beta. In the final build, all players will play on the same servers.
  • PS3 to PS4 transfer is set to begin on April 11. This is similar to the way that Assassin's Creed and Battlefield transferred to PS4, and you will not be able to play your PS3 copy on a PS3 console after you make the transfer
  • All PS3 accounts can be transferred to the PS4 version
  • Users transferring their accounts will have access to an early access period from April 11th through 13th

The PS4 game's features are as follows:

  • Upgraded graphics in 1080p
  • PS Vita Remote Play
  • Share support
  • Mouse and keyboard support
  • Touchpad support
