Game of the Year Awards 2013 - Breakdown

2013 is coming to a close, and with the dawn of a new year comes yet another Game of the Year awards celebration. But this year truly has been one unlike any other in gaming, and to accomodate that we need to have an awards ceremony unlike any other in games journalism. 2013 was a year filled with new console launches, the rise and fall of publishers and developers big and small, and an army of indies eager to innovate in the next generation. Truly, this was one of the biggest and most exciting years ever for our beloved pastime.

For this reason alone, a standard "Top 10" list just won't do justice to the avalanche of amazing games we played in 2013. This year's list has been expanded to 20 titles, and will cover all platforms, genres and developers, big and small. We'll also be hosting the standard "Best of" awards for each platform, allowing us to examine the finest exclusives on every platform.

We'll be rolling out new features daily for the next two and a half weeks, so head below to get a glimpse of our schedule. It all begins tomorrow with our Nintendo 3DS Game of the Year.
