Find All 10 Secret Memos In Pikmin 3

Pikmin 3 may have just arrived, but fans are discovering already that it's full of secrets. Nintendo's own Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed several days ago that there are 10 hidden memos scattered through the game, two in each of the game's sectors. Each memo contains a part of a secret code, and the code is different for every player, so it's impossible to simply post one code online and be done with it. What the code does, exactly, is still a mystery, but chances are that it's tied into either future DLC for Pikmin 3 or another upcoming Nintendo product. 

But how do you find these codes, you ask? Well, they're tricky. But follow our instructions below, and you should be able to hunt down each of them. The codes will be split up by sector.

Garden of Hope:

1st Memo:

The first secret memo in the game is found in the room with the large scale made out of cans. Bring all three of your shipmates and at least one Yellow Pikmin along with you, because you'll need to do some swapping as you go. Head over to the scales and toss one Pikmin onto the left side. Toss up two captains. Toss some more Pikmin on to the other side of the scale to raise the left half. Have your captains and the Pikmin transfer to the right side, then toss more Pikmin onto the left side to raise the right side again. Switch back to the two captains, and toss him over to the right. Keep transferring to the right, and toss more Pikmin onto the scale to the right. Raise the final scale high enough, and you'll reach the secret memo.

2nd Memo:

Head back to the main area of the Garden of Hope, and proceed to the southwestern corner as seen on your map. Head inside of the crab's tin can to find this memo.

Distant Tundra:

1st Memo:

Head to the ridge near the start of the level with all three captains (it's to the left of your ship). Toss two of your captains up onto the dirt ridge blocking the path ahead. Switch to the second captain, and toss the third up onto the taller ridge to your left. Run down to the end of the ledge and you'll find this memo.

2nd Memo:

This memo is found inside of the cave to the northwest of the area. Bring along at least 10 flying Pikmin, because you'll need them to raise a gate for you. Head through the gate and past the jet of flame spewing from the left. The memo will be hidden beneath some rubble between the two glowing mushrooms.

Tropical Wilds:

1st Memo:

Head to the southwest and proceed into the coves where you fight the Calcified Crushbat. The memo will be found underwater, in a small alcove along the back wall.

2nd Memo:

The second memo might be easy to find, but it's tough to get to. Head up to the big tree stump on the northeastern corner of the map. You can bring as few as two captains. Throw one or two of them onto the copper grate and then head around the tree stump. Look carefully through the shrubbery on the upper level and you'll see a mushroom above you - its red color should shine through the leaves ever so faintly. Toss a few Pikmin onto it, and it'll balance out the block that the captains are standing on, raising them up to the next level. Switch to one of the other captains and proceed towards the hole in the tree trunk. Follow the roots up to the top of the tree trunk. Have one of your captains drop down to the level below, head underneath of the tree root, and grab the memo from above.

Twilight River:

1st Memo:

The first mrmo is found on a tiny island. Take all three captains onto the lily pad, then toss two of them onto the Bouncing Mushroom near the first lily pad stop. They'll bounce up onto a tree trunk. Take them to the far end, and then toss one of your captains onto the small tree trunk island floating in the water to find this memo.

2nd Memo:

This one is found to the east of the path that leads to the level's boss battle. Follow the roots up until you get to the base of the tree. You should find that there's a bit of empty space in the dirt patch to your right. Toss a captain down onto the dirt and follow it around the base of the tree to find this memo hidden in a hole in the stump.

Formidable Oak:

1st Memo:

Head to the entrance of the cave to begin your search for this hidden memo. Toss a Pikmin at the second mushroom from the left outside of the cave to reveal the memo inside.

2nd Memo:

The final memo is found in the northwestern part of the southern cave. If you've been through this section before, you'll recall native plants that are activated by light. There are several patches of these in the cave. After crossing through the second patch of these flowers, look out for a dirt mound by the back wall. Have your Pikmin dig it up to find the last memo.
