Portal 2 will use the Source engine, but an upgraded version from the Source engine that runs Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, Portal 1 and other such games. It is still the same engine though, just with new capabilities.

i agree with PixelSith64, it is still the same game engine from Portal 1, but it will obviously be tweaked/enhanced for a game that is going to be realeased four years later than the original Portal.

Source. It's one of the best engine out there as can be seen from HL2. It's been around for so many years and yet it still is one of the best looking game.

New version of Source Engine, which Valve revises almost every year. That is the reason Source Engine games looks so good, even after 6 years this engine was released

Portal 2 uses the Source Engine. Most of the Valve games in the pack are developed using this engine. :)

Although you have probably got your answer, it is running on a more advanced (as opposed to HL or TF) version of the Source Engine.

Portal 2 uses the known Source SDK engine but only a updated one.

The engine is known from Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source and other Source SDK games from Valve.
