Does breaking shadow orbs summon the eye of cthulhu

No. Eye of Cthulu is summoned either when the Player has 200 Health at night or if you combine 10 lenses into a Suspicious Looking Eye and use that at night. Breaking Shadow Orbs will Summon the 2nd boss: Eater of Worlds

Breaking a shadow orb will have a 1 in 3 chance of summoning Eater of worlds.

To summon the eye of Cthulu you must have a suspicious looking eye which is made from lenses at a demon altar. Also if you have 4 npcs and 200 hp you may stumble on eye of cthulu as an event.

Eater of worlds is an easier boss as the more you damage it the more enemies you face and you get demonite ore and scales which are a useful tool to making shadowscale armor.
