Nope. Fallen Stars are used for making Mana Crystals, some other items and as ammo for Star Cannon. Meteor, on the other hand, is a whole mini-biome, created after breaking a Shadow Orb (there's a chance percentage - 1:3), which lets you mine Meteorite Ore and kill Meteor Heads. You need to find it after it lands.
