When I search for my Steam ID it says "No group or player records were found matching your search terms"?

if i go in steam to the community tab and put in my steam id it says "No group or player records were found matching your search terms"

anyone know why? I tried a couple of my friends and they do show up there

they may not have setup a profile or steam could be offline at the moment you were browsing

Login ID and screen name are different. You can't search for login ID. You can search for screen name.

For example you login with John and then your password but you appear as Jimmy to your friends, so you can find Jimmy not John.

And Steam group/player searched is screwed up at times.

If one doesn't chose to make their steam community "profile" visible, they will not show up on the list I believe.  Go ino the settings/preferences and make sure you have a profile and have chosen a steam community profile id. By default I think it isn't turned on.

Their profile must have been set to private. You can't search or read the their profile description or comment on it if it's private/locked.
