It does not work for me, the door stays locked. I hope that I do not have to start completely over from old save.

Had this bug too, after I did a quest with another companion, telleng Serana that we should part ways, then asking her to come with you again sorted it

I don't know how this will work for anyone else, but I was having the same problem...couldn't get into the Volkihar Undercroft because I didn't have the key. I swam around that island at least half a dozen times (discovering a deeply sunken ship with treasure chest far below the Undercroft docks) before I finally decided to tell Serana that we should part ways. She said "Oh, all right," and began to walk away. Before she got too far, I spoke with her, and had the option of saying "Let's go find the secret entrance." That solved everything for some reason. The Volkihar Undercroft is now unlocked, and I'm ready to go in. Thought I'd post this beforehand though, hoping that this little glitch will help the rest of you as well.
