how do I find dig sites in World of Warcraft?

When you've learned Archaeology and you're on a continent that has digsites of your level (Outlands and Northrend has higher level digsites), they will appear on your world map (press M).
Once you've reached the zone that they're in, you can use the zone map for a more precise location.

check your map for the digsite symbol fly there use the survey spell then follow the indications of the telescope. it points in the direction of the onject and the colors indicate distance away. red is far, green is close.

you should see digsite symbols on your map, you'll probably be best off flying there

I'd actually recomend you find a map Add-on that allows you to see the Dig Sites overlayed on your map.

There are a ton of helpful map add-ons like that for finding specific points on the map.
