how do i  learn new crafting recipes on terraria?

Well you can't learn new crafting recipes.

If you wish to know how to make something just go on the terraria wiki

However, if you want to make a basic item and you have 1 of the items just drag that item in the guides crafting section. This will show you all the available things you can make with that object.

Also make sure you have a workbench, a forge and an anvil before trying to make complex items.

Bosses drop Demonite ore which is required to make demonite bars for armor and weapons. The armor will also require scales from the Eater of worlds (Giant worm boss).

Some items will require a demon altar or a hellforge to make it. (Hellforges are in the underworld and Demon altars are under corrupted zones. Use a terraria map viewer if you wish to find them.
