Best way to practise is if you go to the Arena mode (it's the first thing to come up when you start the game) if you go into the penalty box the press up on the D-pad you can take a penalty. A box should appear telling you how to toggle penalty help, if you press it you see a purple circle appear.

Your first kick sets accuracy, try to be as close to the centre of the slider as possible :D

The amount of time you hold the button for sets the power

The direction you press moves the purple circle around the goal to determine your final placement. Hold it for too long and it will go wide or high. The purple circle will help you familiarise yourself with the sensitivity :D
