First you have to beat the game once and save your Clear File. After that you need to start a Luck Mode game. To do so, start a new game, and enter X - X ! V ' ' Q as the name.

Now, once you reach the room right before you meet death, you have to leave the last Warg (Wolf Thing) in the room at the very end alive.

Jump past the warg and unequip all of your gear, then let the Warg hit you or jump into it. You should go flying past death and not trigger the cutscene in which he takes your things.

Just make sure that you don't ever go to that room again otherwise Death will appear and take your things anyway.
