It is often seen as AFK or away from controller (why K is used i am not sure.) It just means that their menu is open. As the previous comment elated it will not pop up if they are calling in an air strike only if the persons start menu is open.

heads up afk is away from keyboard :o
its origin is from the computer gaming term AFK or (away from keyboard)

The light bulb means they are at their menu, eg choosing a different class, or giving directions for air strike.

They are giving airstrike, in menu or something.

they could be in the pause menu or trying to change classes, typing in the chat system or signaling an air strike

when you press the pause button mid game it pops up over your head
