Portal 2 is actually much easier than the first game (though much longer), all of the puzzles are easily completable once you figure out what to do, with hardly any reflexes required, unlike several puzzles in the first game where some precision timing/portal shooting was required.

Basic concepts are introduced slowly near the beginning, and nothing is thrown at you without the game telegraphing how to use it to you.

Also, the story of the first game is summarized through several conversations with in-game characters very early on.
