Once you get the C-Gear, it is under wireless.  You must be in range of a parter who has their c-gear turned on also, and is in one of the cities that make a ring around the center of the region.  They may also be on some routes near these cities.  After that, go stand on the bridge on the East or West side of the Entralink.  Once you are connected to your friend, walk through the wall of mist.  Go to your partner's Entree in the middle of their Entralink and select it.  You then pick the mission option and pick a mission.  Complete your mission to receive credits to buy pass power that boosts you and those around you.  To get somewhere in your partner's Unova region, you must use the map on the touch screen.  Tap on where you need to go and you will teleport there.  Once you finish your mission, you will teleport back to your own entralink.  You can then select your entree and receive a pass power of your choice.  The pass powers can be activated in your C-Gear.

Once the Pokemon Global Link opens, you can use the game-sync feature to make pokemon appear in the forest towards the North of the Entralink.  These pokemon can be caught using special pokeballs.
