terraria do you lose stuff if you die?

it depends on what type of char you created

if your name at the char selection is white then you will only drop half your coins when you die

if your name is blue then yes you will drop everything

if your name is purple and you die your char gets deleted and loading back into the world your items wont be there to pick back up
